UWF Events Happening This Spring Semester

Spring semester is just around the corner, and that means you are most likely going to slammed with school, work and extracurricular activities for majority of the week. One of the most irritating things about being busy all of the time is that you often miss events going on around campus. So to make your life just a little bit easier, here are a few events happening on campus that are totally worth writing in your planner.

January

Blizzard Bash 2019 Jan. 16

Blizzard Bash is a great event for new members of the UWF community and people who are still feeling ambitious since New Years. This event is used to showcase all of UWF’s organizations, making it the perfect opportunity to mingle with peers. Blizzard Bash is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Canon Greens. Market Monday Vendor Fair Jan. 28

Calling all lovers of FREE food! The Market Monday Vendor Fair is an event you don’t want to miss. This University Commons event will have vendors from Popcorn King, Jeni’s Jewels, Juice Babe Juice Bar and so much more. There will also be giveaways and coupons. The event is from 11 a.m to 2 p.m.

February

Law School Forum Feb. 1

This forum is a fantastic opportunity for all UWF students and alumni who are curious about law school. This event will take place in the UWF Conference Center from 1- 4 p.m. At this forum, students will learn about how to apply to law schools and distinguish themselves among other law school applicants. There will also be law school admission officers from regional and national law schools. The dress code is business casual to business professional.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid Feb. 15 – 24 (select dates)

This is the Department of Theatre’s first time presenting Disney’s The Little Mermaid, so there will be original costumes and sets. Some of the best tracks from The Little Mermaid like “Kiss the Girl” and “Part of Your World” will be included in this performance. Argos Suit Up! Feb. 17

Professional clothes are a must for any college student trying to ace an interview or internship, but they can be expensive especially if you are already on a tight budget. Last year, Career Services and the Student Government Association brought UWF Argos Suit Up to assist current students and alumni with build a professional wardrobe. JCPenney on Davis highway will be giving a 40% off discount on all professional wear just for students. UWF trolleys will also be driving students to and from JCPenney.

Business Career Expo Feb. 20

Career Services is throwing this event in the College of Business building for students and alumni interested in business, marketing, advertising, hospitality, management and/or sales-oriented careers. Check out the list of employers planning to attend this expo on Handshake. At this event, you will have the opportunity to network with companies with full-time, Co-Op, or internship positions. Make sure to bring several professional copies of your resume!

Love Every Body Feb. 26

Counseling and Psychological Services is hosting this body positivity event in the Commons’ Great Hall. Love Every Body will be taking place during National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. Check out this event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and celebrate your body!

March

All Majors Career & Internship Fair Mar. 27

Career Services is putting together an All Majors Career & Internship Fair in the Commons’ Auditorium. UWF students and alumni will have the opportunity to network with a lot of different companies and organizations looking to fill part-time and internship positions. Check out the full list of businesses coming to this event on Handshake. Don’t forget to bring a couple of copies of your resume!

Kaleidoscope — Multiple Perspectives Mar. 28 – 29

The UWF Office of Equity & Diversity will be hosting this symposium in the Conference Center. Kaleidoscope — Multiple Perspectives will be teaching the public to embrace their differences. There will be keynote speakers and panel discussions focusing on personal growth and development. This event is open to the public.

April

Global Block Party Apr. 10

The Global Block Party is an event celebrating diversity on campus. This block party will show displays from culturally based organizations. There will also be free food and other entertainments. This event will take place on the Canon Green from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to the public.

Paws and Play Apr. 17

One of the reasons finals week is bearable on campus is that Pet Partners Therapy Dogs come hangout in the UWF Library. Take a study break to snuggle with dogs.

UWF Day of Giving Apr. 18

This years marks the second year of UWF Day of Giving. This event will be taking place during Founder’s Week. UWF Day of Giving is all about the UWF community coming together to help raise money for 14 different areas of UWF. Come help the UWF community develop a better campus for future Argos!
