The University of West Florida’s Fashion Club is having their inaugural fashion show this Thursday at 7 p.m. room 152A in building 52. Admission is free and the show will have music and snacks for the audience members. There will also be a special performance from student artist and poet HONEYXBUN.
“This show is going to be a completely new experience for UWF,” Aaleigah Knight, the president and founder of the UWF fashion Club said. “It will bring an element of fashion, art and creativity to the campus.”
The theme for the show is the urban garden. Knight said that members of the club all find inspiration in nature and wanted to find a way to present this theme in a more modern way. All the garments in the show will be hand sewn, up-cycled and styled by students in the fashion club.
“We have been working on pieces inspired by our theme, which is a combination of city street style mixed with flowery elements.” Knight said. “I can’t wait for the UWF students to experience The Urban Garden.”
There are three designers currently working with their own assigned models, but Knight said that the designers all have a hand in each of the looks. After the show, audience members are encouraged to speak with the designers about their creations.
The outfits will be available to purchase after the show and garden globes will also be available for purchase so audience members can take the Urban Garden experience with them. Donations and proceeds will be used to help fund further projects for the club.
